The organising committee of the ALIA 2009 National Library & Information Technicians Conference is pleased to announce that Earlybird registration is now open. The 2009 ‘Tecs Conference’ offers five days of networking and learning opportunities. The pre-conference program commences Monday with satellite events, Tuesday offers a full day of library tours of best practice sites and in the evening delegates are invited to the Welcome Cocktail party. This is an opportunity to meet old and new friends and to explore the trade exhibition featuring the latest library industry vendors have to offer. Are you looking to find some strategies to change or develop your career?  Dr. Gilliam Hallam  (http://www.herdsa.org.au/?page_id=65) from the School of Information Systems at QUT is coming to Canberra and will be providing an overview of the state of the library and information management sector, as well as sharing some insights into the career development experiences of previous and current library and information workers. Another focal point for the day’s activities will be on personal review/analysis at the individual level in regards to progressing one’s career development. The workshop has value for all work levels, from library students to people in management positions.
